Mirpuri Foundation was the major sponsor of a Transatlantic Crossing organized by its founder, Paulo Mirpuri, which left Mindelo, Cape Verde January 29th, and arrived at Barbados 7 days later.

Paulo Mirpuri has selected for this expedition a 21 meters Volvo Ocean Race high performance sailing vessel, capable of exceeding 25 knots speed, four time faster than a typical sailing cruiser.

The boat, named “Mirpuri Foundation”, was prepared at a yard near Alicante, home for the Volvo Ocean Race organization. The event was covered on a daily basis by sailing specialist journalist Nysse Arruda.Onboard “Mirpuri Foundation” and under Paulo Mirpuri command there was a total of 10 crew members experienced in offshore racing plus 3 VIP guests which fully participated in the handling and sailing of the boat.

The main goal was to raise awareness towards the Mirpuri Foundation’s activities and intervention domains, specially the “Save the Ocean” Program.
