The Mirpuri Foundation becomes a member of The Ocean Rights Alliance, calling for a Universal Declaration of Ocean Rights.
The Alliance aims to bring together leaders and change-makers to accelerate solutions to restore Ocean health, through the development and implementation of a Universal Declaration of Ocean Rights (UDOR), or similar, by 2030.
The Universal Declaration of Ocean Rights (UDOR) is a concept of a global formalization of the rights of the Ocean, agreed by the governments of the world in a joint decision. To ensure the success of UDOR, the Alliance is developing a wide and inclusive consultation process with policy-makers, scientists, academics, industry, legal experts, global thought-leaders, NGO’s and Indigenous and local communities, among many others.
The Ocean Race led this consultation process utilizing The Ocean Race Summits to raise awareness and build support, and organizing innovation workshops to gather stakeholders and facilitate discussion and learning.
