Paulo Mirpuri, President of Mirpuri Foundation, was present at the BirdLife International event that took place last month at the British Library in London, as both organizations share the same wildlife conservation values.
BirdLife International is the world’s largest nature conservation partnership of organizations. Their aim is to conserve birds, their habitats and global biodiversity as well as working with people towards sustainability in the use of natural resources.
Their work is based our four pillars: species, sites and habitats, ecological sustainability and people. BirdLife has 120 partners in 118 countries and each partner is an independent environmental non-governmental organization.
All NGOs work together in science, analyzing threats, taking action on policies, preventing extinctions and protecting the flyways for migratory birds. In six years, they reduced albatross fatalities by 99 percent in a South African fishery.
BirdLife’s vision is of a world rich in biodiversity, where people and nature live in harmony, very much what Mirpuri Foundation envisions as well.
Don’t be deceived by the name of the organization: it goes beyond birds and the name is easy to explain. Birds are messengers and, by studying them and the habitats they depend upon, we can learn more about the planet and how to best protect it.
