Mirpuri Foundation supported a group of 88 children and 46 adults with their first flight experience.

The journey, on board of an Airbus A340-300 from the Portuguese airline Hi Fly, began at Beja Airport, at 11 a.m., and had an approximate duration of 45 minutes, ending at the same location.

The airport meeting happened two hours before, at 9 a.m. so that it was possible to perform the distribution of the respective boarding passes, and even carry out a tour inside the aircraft during which the children, aged between 4 and 13 years old, had the opportunity to satisfy their curiosity by asking questions.

During their first time boarding an aircraft, the visibly excited passengers had the opportunity to fly over the magnificent landscapes of the Alentejo coast. The flight route included the Tróia Peninsula, where the aircraft descended to a lower altitude, 1500 ft, allowing the enjoyment of the territory’s natural beauty from up close. Following the coast line, the aircraft also flew over Pinheiro da Cruz, in Grândola, heading then to Comporta and returning to Beja through Santiago, in Alcácer do Sal.

All along the journey, every passenger was also able to experience the innovative IFE system on board, the RAVE Centric. Each passenger chose, individually, the film they would like to be displayed on the touch screen located in front of them. Simultaneously, the children were offered a tasty snack and even earned some treats. After the landing, there was still some time for a visit to the cockpit and to meet the commander of the flight.

The entities and institutions which participated in the initiative were: Lar Jacinto Faleiro (Castro Verde), APADIJ – Association for Monotoring of Children and Youth’s Development, and Municipality of Alvito’s Summer Camp.
