Mirpuri Foundation Conservation Forum 2025 Concludes with Bold Commitments and Cross-Sector Collaboration
The Mirpuri Foundation, in collaboration with Hi Fly airline, successfully concluded the 2025 Mirpuri Foundation Conservation Forum today at Cascais Marina, under the theme “The Role of Tourism and Aviation in Global Conservation.” The event convened leaders, innovators, and sustainability champions from across the globe to discuss and commit to actionable strategies for aligning tourism and aviation with environmental conservation.
Held alongside the Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy, the Forum served as a high-impact platform for dialogue, innovation, and partnership, bringing together stakeholders from industry, government, science, and civil society.
The opening panel, focused on net-zero aviation, featured representatives from Etihad Airways, TAP Air Portugal, ANA Airports of Portugal, and IATA. The discussion addressed sustainable aviation fuels, infrastructure upgrades, and policy frameworks to support the sector’s decarbonization goals.
In a captivating storytelling session titled “Voices of Change,” ocean explorer Fabien Cousteau shared firsthand insights from his work with the Proteus Ocean Group, highlighting how narrative and exploration can accelerate awareness and action in ocean conservation.
The second panel explored emerging technologies and sustainable materials with insights from European Space Agency, The Good Bottle Company, and CeiiA. The session spotlighted real-world innovations in materials science and design that reduce environmental footprints across the travel sector.
The final panel brought together voices from the Azores Government, Lisbon Tourism Board, United for Wildlife, and Minor Hotels to discuss the intersection of tourism, aviation, and biodiversity protection. They shared collaborative models and policy examples supporting ecosystem conservation through sustainable travel practices.
Throughout the day, attendees engaged in meaningful networking and collaborative dialogue, forming partnerships and pledging commitments that extend beyond the event.
Carlos Mirpuri, Vice-Chairman of the Hi Fly Group, closed the forum by reaffirming the Hi Fly airline commitment to environmental leadership and collective impact. Mirpuri stated. “This forum is not just about discussion—it’s about measurable progress, innovation, and global action.”
