In this festive season, the Mirpuri Foundation undertook two heartwarming initiatives as the principal sustainability partner of the aviation area companies Hi Fly, Mesa and Safeport, reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility.

The first initiative by the Mirpuri Foundation and Hi Fly brought Christmas cheer to children in need from Banco do Bebé.

The “Give a Present” Campaign encouraged Hi Fly employees to participate in this social responsibility project and purchase a thoughtful gift for an assigned child from Banco do Bebé.

Established for over 30 years, Banco do Bebé is an IPSS (Institution of Private Social Solidarity) that aims to provide support to postpartum women and newborns at the Maternidade Alfredo da Costa. Since then, it has expanded its reach and now helps numerous underprivileged families with newborn babies, not only at MAC but also at other hospitals. The organisation also supports newborn siblings ranging from 0 to 13 years old.

To celebrate this special season, Banco do Bebé hosted a Christmas Party with over 310 people, 170 children and 112 families, delivering 76 presents from this action.

“After the pandemic, this was the first Christmas Party we held again. It was an emotional moment of real joy, and we felt it made sense for the BB families and all of us! The Mirpuri Foundation/Hi Fly generous donation made many children happy and allowed us to hold a Christmas party for the families we support in the Home and Psychosocial Support at Banco do Bebé. On behalf of these families, a huge thank you!” – Cristina Maltês, Home Support Coordinator.

Also, during this holiday season, the Mirpuri Foundation, together with Mesa and Safeport, supported the children of Centro Infantil Coronel Sousa Tavares in Beja.

The employees from both companies were invited to contribute with school supplies, baby and children hygiene products, breakfast meal essentials, clothing, and footwear, as well as practical and sports clothing and shoes for young and teenagers. Additionally, those who wished to extend their support could participate by wrapping and identifying a Christmas gift.

The donations were carefully collected and delivered to Centro Infantil Coronel Sousa Tavares, a children’s centre that supports two institutions: A Buganvilia, a temporary reception centre for children at risk, and Casa Pia de Beja, which provides housing and support for young people between the ages of 12 and 20.

The Mirpuri Foundation, Hi Fly, Mesa and Safeport are deeply grateful for the generosity and support from the participants, making a positive impact on the lives of others. These initiatives show the power of collective action and the unwavering commitment of organisations to assist projects that benefit society.

Social responsibility is at the core of the Mirpuri Foundation’s mission. Recognising the importance of nurturing joy and potential within the community, the Foundation aims to create a brighter future for children and contribute to the well-being of underprivileged families.
