Mirpuri Foundation Announces 2025 Conservation Forum in Partnership with Hi Fly – A High-Level Dialogue on the Role of Tourism and Aviation in Global Conservation.

The Mirpuri Foundation, in partnership with Hi Fly airline, is proud to announce the upcoming Mirpuri Foundation Conservation Forum 2025, to be held on July 4, 2025, at Cascais Marina. This year’s event, titled “The Role of Tourism and Aviation in Global Conservation,” will bring together global leaders, innovators, and change-makers from across sectors to tackle one of the most pressing challenges of our time: aligning travel industry growth with sustainability and environmental stewardship.
Held alongside the Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy -a sustainable race part of the Mirpuri Foundation marine conservation program – the forum will explore how tourism and aviation, two of the most influential yet environmentally demanding industries, can become catalysts for global conservation efforts. Participants will engage in high-impact panels, networking sessions, and storytelling moments that spotlight real-world solutions, bold innovations, and actionable strategies.
The first panel will focus on net-zero travel and aviation, featuring representatives from Etihad Airways, TAP Air Portugal, ANA Airports of Portugal, and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). They will explore pathways toward achieving net-zero emissions, discussing the adoption of sustainable aviation fuels, operational efficiencies, and supportive regulatory frameworks. Panelists will share insights into the challenges the industry faces and showcase innovative solutions driving the shift toward sustainability.
Following this, ocean explorer Fabien Cousteau will lead a storytelling session titled “Voices of Change.” He will share experiences from his work with the Proteus Ocean Group, demonstrating how storytelling and exploration can raise awareness about ocean conservation and inspire new generations to protect marine ecosystems.
The second panel will include technologists and business leaders from the European Space Agency, Águas de Monchique, and CeiiA, who will discuss emerging materials and cutting-edge technologies that are redefining the environmental footprint of the travel sector. These innovations will be presented as key enablers to reducing travel’s impact on the environment.
The third panel will bring together representatives from the Azores Government, Lisbon Tourism Board, United for Wildlife, and Minor Hotels to discuss how tourism and aviation can collaborate to support biodiversity and ecosystem conservation worldwide. The conversation will emphasize a synergistic approach, where sustainable tourism practices and aviation policies work together to protect natural habitats and promote environmental stewardship.
“As climate urgency increases, cross-sector collaboration becomes essential,” said Paulo Mirpuri, Founder and President of the Mirpuri Foundation. “This forum is a call to align innovation, policy, and industry leadership to protect our planet.”
The Mirpuri Foundation Conservation Forum 2025 aims to be more than just a conversation—it is a platform for commitment, partnership, and measurable progress toward a greener and more sustainable future.
