Mirpuri Foundation is the main sponsor of “Turn the Tide on Plastic” team for the 2017-18 Volvo Ocean Race edition, and Paulo Mirpuri, its president and founder, visited the Lisbon Boatyard to visit the boat. After nine months, the Volvo Ocean 65 fleet was successfully concluded.
The mainsail is now ready and was on for the first time this weekend. The team will now have a busy couple of weeks sailing and selecting a mixed youthful crew for this adventure, throughout 45000 nautical miles of racing around the world.
The team led by skipper Dee Caffari will be proudly racing under the Portuguese flag, and carrying a powerful sustainability message. “Turn the Tide on Plastic” boat will be raising awareness around the growing issue of ocean pollution.
