The Mirpuri Foundation announces its most recent arts patronage act. The non-profit organization is supporting the restoration of theatrical machinery that was built for Gil Vicente’s production of “Romagem dos Agravados” but has now reached a high state of degradation.

The Mirpuri Foundation’s intervention aims to bring new life to these characters, simultaneously preserving an important cultural landmark and looking to attract more visitors to the museum.

José Carlos Barros is the author of these pieces, inspired on Hieronymus Bosch’s painting “The Temptation of Saint Anthony”.  They were originally presented to the public on a pilgrimage, to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Gil Vicente’s first staging .

Due to its high artistic value, the figures were donated by the author to the National Theatre and Dance Museum and are permanently exhibited in its gardens for individuals of all ages to enjoy.
